HOW TO REACH DARJEELING

Air
The closest airport to Darjeeling is the Bagdogra airport. Bagdogra is 10 km from Siliguri and about 55 km from Mirik is an important military installation. From Bagdogra one can take a bus or taxi to Darjeeling.The major trains connecting the place with all the major places in India come to Jalpaiguri or New Jalpaiguri. From here again you have to take the toy train or a bus or taxi to Darjeeling. The place is well connected by roads due to uneven terrain and frequent occurring landslides. The state transports run buses from Calcutta and other nearby places. The private operators also have their buses and the fair does not vary much in the state or in the private buses.

Rail

You can take the famous toy train, which is a meter gauge train operating over breath taking scenery. The journey takes approximately seven and half hours.
New Jalpaiguri/Siliguri Junction stations at the base of the Darjeeling Hill areas have direct railway connections with Calcutta, Mumbai, Guwahati, Madras, Lucknow, and Delhi.Some Important train services connecting New Jalpaiguri/Siliguri with major cities.Nearest rail-heads are Ghoom-41 km, Darjeeling-49km and Siliguri-52km

2. Mirik-Soureni-Phuguri-T.E.-Gaya-baree T.E. – Dudey Garidhura-Khaprail-Siliguri-52 km.
3. Mirik-Garidhura-Longview T.E. – Makaibari T.E. Kurseong-46 km (jeepable)
