Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park Darjeeling

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park zoological park at Jawahar Parbat is named after Late Padmaja Naidu (1900-1975), the Governor of West Bengal. The zoo is at an average elevation of 2133.5m and spread over an area of 44 hectares which attracts 300,000 visitors every year. It specializes in breeding animals adapted to alpine conditions, and has successfully captive breeding the Snow leopard, critically endangered Himalayan wolf,Red panda, gorals (mountain goat),llama,deers,Himalayan black bear, Siberian tigers, Tibetan Wolf, The Siberian Tiger and a variety of endangered birds.

The animals are well cared for by devoted custodians. To protect and breed the dwindling stock of wild fauna, to educate the public and instill in them a sense of the worth of these terrific creatures, it is necessary to keep them in pseudo-natural habitats.You can also adopt one of the zoo's animals and pay for its upkeep.
